Our patients love Kybella! Kybella® is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment that destroys fat cells in the area under the chin, known as submental fullness or commonly “double chin”. The treatment takes 30 minutes and has minimal discomfort. Kybella is placed via injection into the fat cells that the patient wants to reduce. After the procedure, swelling and small bruises are common for about 3-5 days. Some patients report temporary numbness in the injection site that resolves after two weeks. While Kybella is generally safe and well-tolerated, very rare side effects can occur. These include: Nerve Injury: Temporary nerve injury in the jaw area, which may result in an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness. This typically resolves over time. Difficulty Swallowing: Some patients may experience mild to moderate difficulty swallowing. Prolonged Swelling or Bruising: In rare cases, swelling, bruising, or redness may persist longer than expected. Skin Ulceration or Necrosis: localized skin ulceration or tissue damage. Severe Pain or Discomfort: Some patients may report prolonged or severe pain at the injection site.
